Vehicle Sales Could Use Stimulation, Says Edmunds

This month's new-vehicle sales (including fleet sales) are expected to be 1,028,200 units, a 17.7 percent decrease from August 2009 and a 1.4 percent decrease from July 2010, according to Edmunds.com.

Resource Automotive to Train Mopar Dealers

Chrysler Invites 600 Dealers to Apply for Fiat Franchises

Chrysler Group LLC has reached out to 600 dealers in 119 U.S. markets, inviting them to apply for Fiat franchises. The carmaker will host invited dealers at the “Fiat Experience,” an Aug. 30 meeting that will detail the Italian carmaker’s plans to reintroduce the brand to North America.

GMAC Assumes New Name in August

Ally Financial Inc. today said it will rebrand its GMAC consumer and dealer-related auto finance operations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico and begin using the Ally name in August. This follows the transition of the corporate entity to Ally Financial Inc. in May.

GM to Reinstate 661 Dealers

General Motors announced last Friday that it intends to reinstate more than half of the dealers appealing the loss of their franchise agreements, a day after two U.S. Congressmen sent a strongly worded letter asking GM and Chrysler to stop awarding new franchises in areas where dealers are awaiting arbitration hearings.

Every GM Vehicle Sold Costs Taxpayers $12,200

According to a recent report by the National Taxpayers Union, American taxpayers have paid $12,200 for every General Motors vehicle sold through the beginning of 2011, and $7,600 for every Chrysler vehicle sold.
