DALLAS — Ever wonder how certain regulations governing the F&I process came to be, why there are so many unwritten rules, and why F&I managers do what they do? Organizers of Industry Summit 2017 have confirmed that legendary F&I trainer George Angus will be at F&I Think Tank to take attendees down F&I’s memory lane during a special lunchtime address.

Angus, referred to as the “Father of the F&I Menu,” will take to the stage just after 12:35 p.m. to deliver “F&I’s Past, Present and Future,” a session designed to entertain and educate F&I managers on the who, what, and why of F&I.

“George’s story begins in 1975, when only one out of 10 dealerships employed an F&I manager and payment packing was considered a technique, not a felony,” said Gregory Arroyo, show chair and editorial director of F&I and Showroom and Auto Dealer Today. “Yes, he’ll use some of F&I’s not-so-great moments from the past to entertain, but the point is to educate today’s crop of F&I pros on why they do the things they do.”

Angus, considered an authority on F&I process development, spent 17 of his more than 40-year industry career in retail automotive management positions. In 1994, he left retail to join the development team that created the original F&I menus in the early 1990s. Since then, Angus has trained thousands of F&I managers, presented at numerous industry events, including the magazine’s annual conference, and served as a consultant to leading F&I product providers and auto manufacturers.

Industry Summit 2017 is co-located with The Best Training Day Ever and includes F&I Think Tank, the Special Finance Conference, Compliance Summit and Automotive Compliance Specialist certification by Automotive Compliance Education. Attendees holding a full pass are welcomes to attend any session on the agenda, including ACE certification and BTDE, for no additional charge.
