JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A bill proposed by Missouri State Representative Tim Jones would allow automobile and powersports dealers to include sales tax in their finance deal jackets and issue license plates, according to an article on Missourinet.com.

Hoping to make the car-buying process easier for consumers and help dissuade Missourians from visiting dealerships in neighboring Illinois, Iowa or Kansas, Jones has already won the support of the Missouri Bankers Association and the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association.

Representatives of several smaller-scale auto and boat dealers voiced their objections at a committee hearing, saying that the new legislation would create an added expense in an already hostile economic climate.
