TurboCoverage, which bills itself as the nation’s first Web-based auto insurance service exclusively for car buyers in auto dealerships, announced May 1 that insurance executive Phil Barry has been named chief executive officer and has been appointed to the company’s board of directors.

At the same time, TurboCoverage also appointed to the board automobile executive Ron Goldsberry, chairman of the board of OnStation, an e-commerce company providing software for the automotive aftermarket. Goldsberry currently serves on the boards of Stanford University Business School, UNUM Corporation, and Case Corporation.

During his 30-year business career, Goldsberry worked for Ford Motor Company, Boston Consulting Group, Hewlett-Packard, Gulf Oil Company and NASA Ames Research Center. Recognized for his work in the automotive industry, Goldsberry has been inducted into the prestigious Automotive Hall of Fame and is a three-time Automotive News All-Star.

“As TurboCoverage broadly rolls out its auto insurance platform, it’s important to build a management team and board of directors to enable us to successfully execute this critical new phase of the company’s development,” Barry said. “Building on the success we’ve achieved in the past two years, TurboCoverage is now poised to strengthen its position as first mover and integrate the platform into thousands of dealerships across the country through key strategic partnerships.”

In addition to Barry, TurboCoverage’s management team includes Jim Grim, executive vice president, sales and marketing; Chief Financial Officer Kevin Laughlin; Chief Information Officer Michael Faster; and Terry Marasco, vice president of customer care.

“TurboCoverage will succeed because it has a well-conceived business model that creates real value for consumers, dealers and insurance companies,” Goldsberry said. “With Phil’s strategic vision, continued emphasis on strategic partnerships, and limited capital requirements to roll out the platform, TurboCoverage has an opportunity to be a clear winner.”

Barry has 30 years of executive management experience at leading insurance companies, including Marsh & McClennan, the world's largest insurance broker, Minet, Compro Insurance Services, BFB&K Insurance Services and California Casualty Management Company. He has also worked with several Internet start-ups as an executive and as a member of the board of directors. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Etransafe, an e-commerce provider of vertical business solutions to insurance company clients. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of Matchmaker.com, the leading dating/relationship portal on the web.

Goldsberry’s business experience includes a successful career at Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 13 years in positions of increasing responsibility. Most recently, he was vice president, global service business strategy. In that role, he developed and led the company’s after market and service business strategies worldwide.
