Experian, a provider of global information solutions, announced Apr. 24 that it has named Scott Waldron president of its Automotive Information Solutions division. Waldron, a veteran executive of the technology and data industries, succeeds retiring Experian Automotive president John Jira.

According to Experian, Waldron will manage and develop Experian's broad range of products and services for the automotive sector including the National Vehicle database, a relational automotive database comprised of over 16 billion records on nearly 400 million vehicles. Experian claims the National Vehicle database is the most comprehensive source of automotive data available and serves as the foundation from which all of Experian's automotive solutions originate.

"Scott's experience, vision and unwavering dedication to client needs are an ideal match for Experian," said Don Robert, chief operating officer of Experian North America. "His appointment confirms our commitment to delivering exceptional solutions to the automotive industry. Scott's knowledge of data and technology applications, as well as his understanding of the automotive industry, are the ideal skill-sets for this role."

Waldron was most recently executive vice president and general manager of EyeVelocity, developer of visual personalization technology for point-of-purchase and Internet applications. EyeVelocity pioneered the use of an integrated visualization and data platform for e-commerce in the high-growth automotive accessory markets. Prior to joining EyeVelocity, he was vice president of Systems Marketing and E-commerce for Reynolds and Reynolds, a leading management system provider for automobile dealers. Waldron has also served as a consultant with McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School.
