FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — AutoNation announced that Mike Maroone will be retiring on April 1 after more than 15 years as the company’s president and COO. Effective Feb. 1, 2015, current Chairman and CEO Mike Jackson will be taking on additional duties as AutoNation’s president.

“Mike Maroone and I have had a 15-year partnership that has brought AutoNation tremendous success,” said Jackson. “I am thankful for his leadership and partnership over the years and wish him all the best after his retirement.”

Maroone will continue to act as the president and COO until Feb. 3, after which he will serve in a transitional role until his retirement. AutoNation executive Bill Berman will take over as the company’s new COO and has been promoted to executive vice president as well.

Maroone was with AutoNation for more than 18 years.

“I have had a rewarding career as an executive at AutoNation over my 18 years with the company,” said Maroone. “I am proud to have been a key part o the leadership team responsible for the company’s operating success.”
