NEW YORK — A Motor City auto auction claimed three awards – including the top overall prize – when Chase, the nation’s largest auto lender, announced its 2009 Chase Cup for Auction Excellence winners.

Manheim Metro Detroit won Chase Cup honors for best national auction performance as well as the Wininger service delivery award and best performance in the Midwest region.  The awards were announced during the National Auto Auction Association’s 61st annual convention in San Francisco this week.

The Chase Cup recognizes exceptional performance in retention, efficiency, expense control, accuracy, sales, operations and service delivery.

“Manheim Metro Detroit distinguished itself with a combination of top-notch reconditioning and condition report accuracy, sale preparation and on-time performance along with above-average retention,” said Lynn Wolver, national vehicle remarketing executive for Chase.

Chase reviewed the performance of 33 of the nation’s best auto auctions from August 2008 through July 2009, focusing on how well the auctions handle sales and invoice processing, transport requests, title processing and other issues.

Chase also presented national awards to:

• Columbus Fair Auto Auction for Best Performance in Highlines

• ADESA Buffalo for Internet Listing Volume and

• Manheim Orlando for Internet Live Auction Penetration.

Manheim Pennsylvania received special recognition for outstanding performance in Subaru vehicle sales.

“The leaders in the wholesale auto auction industry help Chase remarket vehicles successfully, and the Chase Cup recognizes their exceptional work,” Wolver said.

Chase recognized four other regional winners as top performers:

• Manheim Fredericksburg, Northeast

• Manheim Atlanta, Southeast

• Manheim Dallas, Central

• Manheim Seattle, West
