No Sedans Among KBB’s Top 12 Family Cars

Autodata: December Sales Push 2016 New-Vehicle Sales Above 17.5 Million

The 3.1% year-over-year increase in new-vehicle sales in December was more than enough to push the industry’s annual sales tally above the 17.5 million-unit mark for 2016, according to Autodata Corp.

New-Vehicle Sales Rise 3.7% in November, Autodata Reports

The industry sold 1.38 million new units in November, a 3.7% increase from a year ago, according to Autodata Corp. November's seasonally adjusted annual rate was 17.87 million, which was slightly lower than last November’s SAAR of 18.25 million.

Feds Investigating FCA for Inflating Sales, Automaker Confirms

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles confirmed in a statement issued today that it’s under investigation by the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice. According to Bloomberg, FBI agents visited the homes of nine people who run FCA business centers as part of a probe into the automaker’s monthly sales reporting.

Wash. Dealer Ordered to Pay $74,000 for Deceptive Advertising

Rairdon’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Kirkland agreed to pay $35,125 in civil penalties and $39,210 in costs and fees. The dealership was charged with violating the state's Consumer Protection Act for sending out 7,025 promotional mailers that mimicked official NHTSA recall notices.

Hacked Cars Could Spread Malware Via Dealers, WIRED Reports

At a hacker conference last month, security consultant Craig Smith said a malware-infected vehicle coming in for service could potentially infect a dealership’s testing equipment, which would in turn spread the virus to every vehicle a dealership services.
