Volkswagen will begin buying back its 2.0L diesel models following approval Tuesday of a $14.7 billion settlement by a federal judge. The automaker expects to complete the process by the middle of November, a spokeswoman said.

A family-owned dealer group has filed a class action lawsuit against Volkswagen for intentionally defrauding dealers by installing defeat devices in its diesel cars. FTC Seeks Court Order Against Volkswagen for Deceptive Advertising

The Federal Trade Commission is seeking a court order against Volkswagen that would require the manufacturer to compensate American consumers who bought or leased a vehicle equipped emissions cheat software. Volkswagen has also been granted an extension to come up with a detailed plan to recall 600,000 affected diesel vehicles.
