J&L Warranty Pros is looking for the Warranty Pro of the Year.

Each year, J&L holds a contest to recognize individuals who dominate warranty in every respect.

"Our definition of a warranty pro is an individual who collects every legitimate penny for the dealership in a timely manner, stays up to date on policies and procedures and administers claims like they have warranty running through their veins," said Jay Weaver, vice president.

Warranty administration means money in most dealerships. A well-trained administrator can safeguard a dealership from audit chargebacks, reduce warranty expense and increase cash flow.

"We know that warranty administrators have a difficult and thankless job. Our contest recognizes those individuals who excel in their skilled trade," Weaver said.

This year, the winner of the contest will win a laptop computer loaded with Bell & Howell's new PC-based Labor Time Guide. The winner will be announced at J&L's booth during the NADA convention held Feb. 3-6, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Managers and dealer principals of all franchises are asked to submit an entry form. Warranty administrators, service managers or others responsible for administering warranty are eligible for nomination. The main requirement is that the task of administration takes up at least 20 hours per week.

"Last year the number of applicants was astounding; there were hundreds of nominees," Weaver said. A panel of five judges will decide the winner.

Nominations must be received by Dec. 15, 2000. To nominate a warranty pro, call J&L at 1-800-852-6298 to obtain a nomination form and Warranty Analysis.

"It's not every day a dealership gets to brag about their top performers," Weaver said. "These individuals handle millions of dollars worth of warranty claims; they deserve the recognition."
