Retail Auto Sales Fall 2.2 Percent in November

December 14, 2000

Sales of new cars and trucks fell 2.2 percent during November, the biggest decline since a 4.9 percent drop in July 1998, according to the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA).

In October, vehicle sales fell by 1.0 percent.

Paul Taylor, chief economist for NADA, said the decline, which represents a drop in the value of sales, reflects more sales of less expensive, smaller cars.
