In his remarks during the opening session of the National Automobile Dealers Association's 84th annual convention in Las Vegas, 2000 Chairman Harold Wells said that "all roads - electronic and paved - lead to the

dealership."

Wells praised dealers for their hard work and

entrepreneurial spirit this year which he said helped to dispel industry analysts' predictions that the Internet would replace the franchised

dealer.

On the industry relations front, Wells told convention attendees that manufacturer-dealer relations remains among the association's top

priorities. Wells also touched on NADA's efforts to address Ford's Blue Oval Certified program and its Lincoln and Mercury counterparts, the Oldsmobile phaseout and the DaimlerChrysler reorganization.
