Vickie L. Fletcher of Jim Waldron Buick-Pontiac-GMC in Davison, Mich., has been named the J&L Warranty Pro of the Year for 2001.

In the fall of 2000, Fletcher had to have back surgery and was out of work for four weeks, according to her service director, Duane Gauthier. During that time, she still submitted warranty claims from her home.

"Vickie is relentless," Gauthier said. "Her dedication to the responsibilities of her job wouldn't allow her to let claims pile up while she was recovering. She will continue to keep myself, the advisors and the technicians aware of the policies and procedures manual requirements and make sure we all have our paperwork turned in and accurate."

Fletcher has been in the automotive business for 13 years. Six of those years have been with the Jim Waldron dealership. "She is highly thought of amongst the other employees of Jim Waldron and was selected Employee of the Month last year," Gauthier said.

To keep employees at the dealership up to speed, Fletcher creates a test from the monthly J&L Profit & Protection(TM) newsletter and gives it to the service advisors and service management. "She actually grades them and lets them know the correct answer if they happen to get one wrong," Gauthier said.

In 2000, Fletcher managed to average a paid claims rate of 91.4 percent.

For her achievement, Fletcher received a laptop computer loaded with Bell+Howell's new Labor Time Guide program.
