Visteon Corporation announced March 30 that Northwood University sophomore Tiffany Adams has been awarded the second annual "Visteon Excellence in Aftermarket Scholarship."

Visteon Global Aftermarket Operations offers the annual scholarship to women and minorities in an effort to encourage diversity within the automotive aftermarket. The four-year scholarship provides the student not only financial aid, but also the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive internship program with Visteon, an automotive components and systems manufacturer to the global aftermarket.

"I am thrilled that Visteon is giving me this opportunity," said Adams, who is a resident of Detroit, Mich. "I look forward to the hands-on learning experience and growing in my knowledge of the aftermarket."

Beginning in June, Adams will intern in the areas of market research, competitive benchmarking, industry trends and business planning. She will return in the summer of 2002 to work closely with Visteon's marketing, sales and customer service departments.

"We are pleased to be able to offer an opportunity to someone just starting out in this industry," said Rick Meyer, general manager, Visteon Global Aftermarket Operations. "We're committed to ensuring that, by the end of Tiffany's scholarship, she will be prepared to make a positive impact on the automotive aftermarket industry."

The Visteon Excellence in Aftermarket Scholarship is in its second year of existence. Last year's honors went to Northwood University junior Danielle Randall of Detroit, Mich., who continues to progress through the program.

The Visteon Excellence in Aftermarket Scholarship is part of the Visteon Fund, which was created to enrich the lives of children by supporting community-based organizations that recognize the needs of children. In addition, Visteon provides information and resources for all employees in an effort to encourage volunteer involvement with children's organizations in their communities.
