The 2001 GM Protection Plan (GMPP) incentive programs have been announced, with opportunities to earn rewards for sales performance.

The F&I Rewards program features the new F&I Rewards MasterCard® which rewards dealerships for GMPP and Mechanical Repair Protection (MRP) service contract sales. Dealers are required to enroll to participate in this program.

Beginning April 1, 2001, dealerships earn five award dollars ($5) for every eligible GMPP & MRP service contract sold (SmartCare is excluded). Once a dealerships earns 250 award dollars ($250) they can order an F&I Rewards debit card which is accepted wherever Master Card is accepted, according to GM spokesperson Susan Arbelaez.

Dealerships will be able to issue debit cards to more than one recipient as long as the minimum $250 qualifier is met for each new card ordered.

The program lasts through Dec. 31, 2001. Eligible GM Protection Products accepted and processed through December 31, 2001 will be counted towards the F&I Rewards total.

Only GM dealerships are eligible to participate in the F&I Rewards program, according to Arbelaez.
