Web-Based Auto Insurance Service in Dealerships Forms Another Alliance to Accelerate Rollout

July 24, 2001

TurboCoverage, which bills itself as the first Web-based auto insurance service for auto dealerships, announced on July 24 that it will outsource its call center operations to Instant Auto Insurance, a direct marketer of auto insurance products.

TurboCoverage and Instant Auto Insurance will facilitate customer service calls from car buyers in dealership showrooms who have questions about purchasing insurance coverage at the time of the vehicle sale, according to a joint statement released by the two companies. The new service will be offered to more than 1,000 dealerships in California. In 12 months, TurboCoverage plans to extend the service to 5,000 dealerships in more than a dozen states.

"With Instant Auto Insurance as our call center partner, TurboCoverage has another important component in place to reach the more than 7 million car buyers annually who need coverage in auto dealerships at the time of vehicle sale," said TurboCoverage CEO Phil Barry.

The alliance with Instant Auto Insurance marks the third partnership TurboCoverage has made in the last four months. Previously, TurboCoverage created associations with CVR, a vehicle registration company, and FSC, a rating engine that provides car buyers with insurance products from 4,000 agency clients.
