Black Book Unveils Online Xpress(TM) Analysis Service

March 1, 2002

Black Book/National Auto Research has unveiled a new online product, Xpress™ Analysis Service, to allow fleet/lease managers to evaluate their portfolios. By going to the Black Book Web site, www.BlackBookUSA.com, and entering a user name and password, a subscribing manager may import a list of VINs along with the termination date for each vehicle.

The program automatically compares the list against the Black Book database and returns current clean and average wholesale values as well as the projected end-of-term value, according to Black Book officials. If no termination date is given, rough wholesale is returned instead of end-of-term value.

In addition to the VIN and termination date, a manager may use the Universal Vehicle Code (UVC), created by Black Book to correctly identify each vehicle completely to the trim level.

“The current industry method of vehicle identification utilizing the VIN alone is flawed in that it frequently does not complete the identification down to the trim level,” said Freddy Hall, director of sales for Black Book. “Often, vehicles from the same manufacturer will have the same VIN and model numbers, but are actually different trim levels with different values.”
