Ford’s vehicle insurance program, partnered with The Hartford Fire Insurance Co., is reaching out to Ford and non-Ford vehicle brand owners with rates said to be $150-$350 a year below those of competing insurers.

The three-year-old program’s benefits include a maximum $100 collision deductible on covered repairs done at Ford dealerships and full replacement coverage for new cars totaled or stolen within the first 12 months or 15,000 miles of use.

Offered through F&I offices of participating Ford dealers, the Ford-Hartford policy also provides guaranteed continued insurability regardless of age from the first year of coverage.

Other benefits added to the policy include a multiple-vehicle discount of up to 25 percent; a medical-payments discount of as much as 30 percent for automatic seatbelts and air bags; discounts of 15 to 25 percent for an anti-theft device; and a reduction in premiums of up to 15 percent when auto coverage is combined with a home insurance policy.

The Ford-Hartford policy, which also guarantees use of OEM replacement parts to Ford or non-Ford vehicle owners, costs $246 to $337 less in annual premiums than comparable auto policies issued by competitive insurers, according to Deborah J. Lemke, The Hartford vice-president.
