The Chrysler Group of DaimlerChrysler AG said May 31 it is extending two incentive programs to July 8, a week past the expiration of

current programs offered by its domestic competitors, according to an Associated Press report.

Chrysler's seven-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty and minivan promotions were to expire May 31 but were extended to take advantage of the July 4th weekend, traditionally a strong sales period, according to spokesman David Elshoff.

The minivan promotion offers cash rebates up to $2,500 and zero percent financing on three-year loans on all but eC, eX and eL models.

Chrysler president and CEO Dieter Zetsche has expressed his dislike for incentives which can erode profit margins but has said the company needs to keep up with the competition, according to AP.
