Arthur Turner, a co-founder of Northwood University, died Monday at the age of 71.

Along with R. Gary Stauffer, Turner created the school as Northwood Institute in 1959. Its mission was to prepare students for management careers. Northwood has since become the nation’s primary school for future automobile dealers. In addition to its main campus in Midland, Mich., Northwood has campuses in Cedar Hill, Texas, and West Palm Beach, Fla.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Griswold Communication Center on Northwood’s Midland campus. A memorial service will be on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Midland.
