The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) says it has teamed up with Manheim Auctions and the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) to offer the Official Auction Training Course to keep automotive dealers and others up to speed on the latest developments in vehicle wholesaling.

The next course will be held April 15-17 at the Greater Tampa Bay Auto Auction. According to the company, the course is a unique educational experience for anyone who uses auto auctions to get fully educated on the opportunities available at today’s auctions.

According to the company, the course is designed to teach dealers (franchised or independent), wholesalers, fleet/lease companies and financial institutions how to maximize profits by using wholesale auctions. Some of the topics covered in the Auction Training Course include:

  • Controlling aged inventory.

  • Making money not only in the turn, but in the number of turns.

  • Learning the market and market-specifics in certain areas of the country.

  • How to more accurately appraise vehicles and effectively estimate reconditioning costs.

  • How to take advantage of all the convenient and “higher profit potential” services the auction offers.

Novice to veteran dealers who may be on the fence about using auctions will see just how beneficial and convenient the sales can be for them through a behind-the-scenes look.

“It is one of the best training courses I have been to. I learned more about buying and selling in three days than I had learned in 20 years,” said Don Huckaby of Smith Ford Mercury Ltd., in Staton, Texas.

The course is designed to help anyone who uses auctions as a means to do business. Classroom presentations and discussions, coupled with hands-on application at the auction lanes, make for an invaluable experience.

Along with the April class in Tampa, the Official Auction Training Course will also be offered:

  • May 20-22 at the Omaha Auto Auction

  • June 2-4 at the Dallas Auto Auction

  • June 17-19 at the Greater Chicago Auto Auction

  • Aug. 6-8 at the Manheim Auto Auction
