Manheim Auctions’ Metro Milwaukee Auto Auction recently sold 124 vehicles to online bidders via Simulcast during a closed sale for BMW of North America. These vehicles accounted for 65 percent of the total vehicles sold during the sale, according to the company.

“We are excited to see that Simulcast sales are having such great success,” said Dennis Worthy, general manager of Metro Milwaukee Auto Auction. “It is a good feeling to know that dealers from all over the country are able to purchase the vehicles they need from our auction, even if they cannot physically be in the lanes.”

At the Metro Milwaukee Auto Auction sale, online bidders submitted 502 online bids on 156 different vehicles.

“With every sale, we are seeing Simulcast become a more accepted and natural part of the auction experience,” said Joe Luppino, vice president and chief operating officer for Manheim Interactive.

Manheim says it currently has 62 lanes at 16 auctions operating on Simulcast, with 20 consignors, including both dealers and commercial accounts, selling vehicles on

the system. Estimates are that by the end of May, Simulcast will be installed in 160 lanes at 32 Manheim auctions, ready to be activated as soon as training is complete. At this pace, Luppino conservatively estimates that Simulcast could attract more than 7,500 dealers into the auction lanes electronically by the end of May, up from 3,500 currently.
