MUNICH, Germany—The BMW Group reported a 4.2-percent rise in sales for February.

The automaker sold 77,790 BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce vehicles, compared to 74,660 vehicles sold last February.

However, 2004 sales to date are slightly below sales at this time last year. From December to January, production at the Munich plant was interrupted because of refurbishment and modernization efforts, which led to a decline in January sales.
