COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio's state attorney general filed suit last week against five Michigan motorcycle and APV dealers for bait-and-switch advertising and payment packing.

Consumers complained of misrepresentation at the point of sale. One customer received a vehicle different than what was advertised and was told that the vehicle was of equal or better value. Others complained of hidden charges for service contracts, accessories, destination, freight, dealer preparation and handling fees.

The suit alleges that these practices violate Ohio's Consumer Sales Practices Act. It seeks consumer restitution and civil penalties of $25,000 per violation.

"Vehicle dealers should follow the laws in Ohio or we will take action on behalf of Ohioans to protect consumers," said Attorney General Jim Petro.
