A car buyer filed suit against a Pen Argyl, Penn., dealership for not redeeming a $10,000 voucher advertised as being offered with any vehicle purchase.

Customer Edmund Janke’s suit seeks $30,000 from Reinhard Ford of Blue Valley Drive for committing "fraud, deceit and misrepresentation," according to The Morning Call. The suit claims violations of the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.

The lawsuit, filed Oct. 26, gives this account of the incident. Janke saw a newspaper ad from Reinhard that "guaranteed consumers a $10,000 cashable voucher with any vehicle purchase" for purchases made June 2 to June 5. So he went to the dealership and bought a new truck. At the time of the sale, the salesperson handed Janke a copy of the front side of the voucher. About a week later, Janke received a copy of a sample voucher that listed the terms and conditions of the offer.

Janke’s attorney, Alexander Karam, told The Morning Call that for the offer to be valid, Janke would have had to mail a copy of the document with the sales information to an address on the back of the voucher within seven days of purchasing the vehicle. "The rules weren’t on the copy (Janke) got," said Karam.

A general manager at Reinhard, John Flynn, said he hadn’t received information about the suit and was unable to comment on the issue.
