VENICE, Calif. –- F&I Institute of America’s OMNITRACK utilizes global positioning satellite, the Internet and cellular technology to accurately locate a car, truck, SUV, motorcycle or boat almost anywhere in North America.

The system takes 30 minutes to preload when installed by a dealer’s own service department and can be completely removed in less than five minutes if necessary. An F&I department can earn more than $1,000 of non-cancelable F&I profit on each unit sold.

OMNITRACK features an electronic fence that can be activated to form a shield around the vehicle. The owner is notified immediately by phone, e-mail, pager or fax if the vehicle has been moved out of the "Geo-Fence" perimeter without his or her permission.

The vehicle’s location can be found on the Internet and displayed on an electronic map with speed calculations and the direction of travel. The system can also be pre-programmed with a speed limit, useful for parents monitoring teen drivers.

For theft prevention, the vehicle’s starter can be disabled via the Internet to prevent re-starting the engine once it has been shut off.
