Nearly 60 consumers have filed a lawsuit against Lithia Motors Inc., charging that the auto retailer’s financing practices violated federal and state anti-racketeering laws and Oregon’s Unlawful Trade Practices Act, reported the Mail Tribune in Southern Oregon.

The lawsuit alleges that customers’ credit applications were altered and that lending institutions were told cars had additional accessories that were not there in order to qualify for larger loans.

The suits involve every Lithia dealership in Medford, Ore., as well as others in Ashland, Roseburg and Eugene. The company’s subsidiaries and lenders also are named as defendants, according to the Mail Tribune.
