Dearborn, Mich.—Ford Motor Company recently announced that it has begun exploring options for Automobile Protection Corporation (APCO), with emphasis on a potential sale of the business.

Ford Motor Company purchased APCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, in July 1999. APCO offers vehicle service contracts and related after-market products to dealers.

The Company said that exploring strategic options for APCO would not automatically result in a transaction. Terms and conditions would be subject to Board approval.
