NEW YORK — Warranty Direct, a provider of direct-to-consumer vehicle service contracts and automobile extended warranties, has made its extended car warranty available in the Canadian market.

“We have always taken pride in our product availability in the 50 states and the District of Columbia,” said Randy Downs, vice president of Warranty DirecNow. “Warranty Direct is taking the knowledge gained from almost 2 million contracts sold; and nearly $600 million in paid claims; to the Canadian marketplace. This will allow us to pursue our aggressive goals to grow our unique company, while providing Canadian consumers an affordable alternative to the dealer for extended warranty purchases. We saw a great opportunity for growth; and the need for professionally structured and insured extended warranties in the Canadian market.”

Warranty Direct, which offers extended car warranties accessible to consumers on the Internet, enters the Canadian market through a newly created website www.warrantydirect.ca. The site offers an enhanced product line not yet available in the United States and will be geared to Canada and each of its Provinces. It won’t be a mere extension of the United States product, but a tailored offering based on the Canadian marketplace.

Coverage is available in Manitoba, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, NW Territories, Nunavut, Prince Edward Island and Yukon. Availability in other provinces will follow shortly.

While Warranty Direct’s offering is tailored for the Canadian market, all the industry leading features they are known for in the United States are part of their Canadian offerings; wear-and-tear failure coverage, free roadside assistance membership and emissions system coverage.

Coverage for airbag electronics is available and exclusive to the Canadian market. Extended warranties are available for most vehicles with as many as 240,000 kilometres on the odometer.
