FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — Hyundai Motor America named James “Jim” Trainor national manager of product public relations, reporting to Vice President of Corporate Communications Chris Hosford. In his position, Trainor will develop vehicle communication strategy and oversee all new model introductions, auto show debuts, national and regional media events, and press fleet operations.

Trainor brings more than 25 years of corporate communications and public relations experience to Hyundai. He spent 18 years with Ford Motor Company serving in a variety of corporate communications functions, including director of the Lincoln Mercury Public Affairs group for two years.

Trainor was vice president, corporate communications for Sirva Inc. in Westmont, Ill. for four years, overseeing all aspects of internal and external communications for the $3.5 billion relocation services company. Immediately before joining Hyundai, Trainor served as senior director of corporate communications at Ingram Micro, responsible for media relations and internal and external communications for the $32 billion IT distributor. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in public relations from Ohio University.
