DENVER – Ally Financial and Denver dealer Mike Shaw presented a $10,000 check to the Boy Scouts of America Denver Area Council. The presentation took place at Shaw’s dealership there.

Shaw was recently named the 2012 TIME Dealer of the Year, one of the automobile industry’s most prestigious and highly coveted honors. Recipients are among the nation’s most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service.

As part of this prestigious achievement, Ally agreed to make a $10,000 donation in Shaw’s name to the Boy Scouts of America Denver Area Council, the organization of his choice.

“Mike continues to have a tremendous impact on the vitality and strength of his community,” said Tim Russi, executive vice president of North American Auto Operations at Ally Financial. “We’re honored to recognize Mike and are truly inspired by the many important organizations he is involved with that serve the Denver community.”

For the last 17 years, Shaw has been involved in other local community causes, including the Boys & Girls Club of America, Urban League of Denver, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Colorado Aids Walk, Food Bank of the Rockies, American Cancer Society, Crime Stoppers and Executive Women International and Seniors Incorporated, among others.

“The Boy Scouts were instrumental in molding me and instilling my ethical and core values,” said Shaw. “It is such an honor to be recognized for giving back and impacting the lives of our future leaders in this way.”
