General Motors Corp. announced Sept. 19 an enhancement of its retail marketing program on 2002 model year vehicles. Effective September 19 and continuing through September 30, GM will offer APR financing rates of 0.0 percent on terms up to 60 months for qualified buyers on the purchase of all new 2002 GM models including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, HUMMER, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saab and Saturn.

"We believe that our offer is unquestionably the best in the industry," said Bill Lovejoy, group vice president of GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. "There are no exceptions, no fine print and no gimmicks. For qualified consumers who are shopping for model year-end bargains, our zero percent offer on every '02 model is as good as it gets.

"Our dealers have done a great job selling down 2002s, but we still have some inventory available," Lovejoy said. "In addition to GM's new offer on '02s, we have compelling zero percent offers on our '03s as well."

As with recent marketing programs, GM says it will use national, regional and local marketing campaigns to leverage all of its vehicle divisions and GM dealers in the marketplace. A heavy schedule of national print and TV advertising for the new program begins this Friday in newspapers, with TV spots beginning on Saturday. Divisional, regional, and local dealer marketing group ads will follow.

According to GM, the program on 2003 models remains unchanged. As previously announced, GM continues to offer APR financing rates of 0.0/2.9/3.9 percent (36/48/60 months) or customer cash of $1,000, $1,500 or $2,000 for qualified buyers on the purchase of all new 2003 model Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac cars and trucks through Oct. 31. Saturn, Saab, and HUMMER are excluded from the 2003 program.
