COLLEYVILLE, Texas — Ray Miller, Finance Manager at Joyce Buick GMC in Avon, Ohio, posted the highest score on the Association of Finance & Insurance Professionals (AFIP) Senior Certification Exam at AFIP’s inaugural Boot Camp, held in Cleveland in April.

“Ray is one of less than 25 candidates in 25 years to only miss one question on the entire exam. It’s quite an achievement,” said David Robertson, executive director of the AFIP.

The organization’s Boot Camp concept consists of two days of accelerated preparation for the federal and state regulation-based AFIP certification exam. It was created in response to dealer demand for expedited regulatory training, Robertson noted. Candidates are expected to spend at least two weeks studying the course material on their own prior to the sessions. The Boot Camps are offered regionally, sometimes in conjunction with sponsoring dealer groups or vendors.

Miller, with 20 years of experience in automotive financial services, joined Joyce Buick GMC five years ago. By passing the Senior Certification Exam, Miller advances to the second level of AFIP’s three-tiered hierarchy and earns the Senior Professional in Financial Services (SPFS) designation.
