FTC to Hold Third Roundtable in Washington, D.C., Next Month

October 27, 2011

WASHINGTON — The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced it will host its third roundtable, “The Road Ahead: Selling, Financing & Leasing Motor Vehicles,” on Nov. 17, 2011, in Washington, D.C., at its Conference Center.

The roundtable will address what has been learned about auto sales, financing and leasing at the FTC’s previous roundtables. The commission also will discuss what consumer and business education initiatives would be useful, and any practices that may harm consumers significantly or that are widespread.

The first roundtable in the series was held in Detroit back in April and focused on consumer protection issues involving the sales and financing of motor vehicles. The second roundtable, held in San Antonio in August, concentrated on military consumers’ experiences at dealership, the role of financial literacy in consumers’ understanding of that process, and fair lending issues.
Those who wish to submit comments on roundtable topics or on motor vehicle sales, finance and lease issues, can file comments at ftcpublic.commentworks.com/ftc/motorvehicleroundtables3. The FTC will accept comments until at January 31, 2012.
