The nearly 450 employees of BMW Financial Services are donating a day each year to community service in the three locations housing the U.S. operations of the BMW AG subsidiary.

Under a new policy announced by Lindsay Duffield, operations vice-president of BMW Financial Services NA, associates are encouraged to volunteer for projects with such non-profit organizations as Big Brothers and Big Sisters, children’s hospitals and metro parks.

In Ohio, where BMW FS has its largest unit in the suburb of Dublin, near Columbus, 50 employees took part in a local home improvement program this past spring. Other BMW FS offices are located in BMW of North America’s headquarters city of Woodcliff Lake, N.J., and at the BMW Bank of North America in Salt Lake City.

Duffield said BMW FS is unique in employee benefits, offering flexible work schedules, sick leaves to care for ill dependents, a development program with up to 40 hours of training per year, full tuition reimbursement for pursuit of college or postgraduate degrees (including books and fees), annual bonuses including cash, gift certificates or trips to Germany, and a company car policy.
