Faced with jittery consumers and sluggish February auto sales, Detroit's automakers have turned yet again to heavy incentives to juice sales, according to the Detroit News.

General Motors Corp. has extended interest-free loans on its mid-size sport utility lineup from three years to five years. The deal on the

Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Oldsmobile Bravada and GMC Envoy expires Feb. 28.

DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group last week began offering six-year loans with an interest rate of 2.9 percent on its Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee midsize SUVs.

Automakers are looking to rebates to jump start consumer demand that has been dampened by snowstorms, the possibility of war in Iraq and escalating gasoline prices, according to the News. Analysts expect February sales to come in lower than a year ago, the News said.
