TEXARKANA, Texas -- A Texas man accused of using a Hawaii resident’s identity to purchase vehicles totaling more than $103,000 has been charged with five federal counts involving identity theft and is awaiting trial, reported the Texarkana Gazette.

The case, involving Bradley Lynn Schutter, 34, was investigated by the city’s police department as well as the FBI. A finance manager from the dealership where Schutter allegedly bought an Eddie Bauer edition Ford Expedition and a Harley Davidson edition Ford F250 pickup truck called the FBI when the dealership was contacted by the Hawaii resident.

According to an FBI agent’s testimony, Schutter admitting to using another person’s name and Social Security number, but said he had permission to buy the vehicles, the Gazette reported.

The man whose identity was used told FBI agents in Hawaii that he did not know Schutter and did not give him permission to make any purchases.
