California New-Vehicle Sales Jump 34.2 Percent in Q3

October 18, 2012

SACRAMENTO — The California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) announced that third-quarrter, new-vehicle registrations in California increased 34.2 percent vs. a year ago.

It was the 14th consecutive quarterly increase for California new car sales, which are now predicted to reach close to 1.6 million units this year. Year to date, California new-car sales are up 26.3 percent vs. 14.5 percent for the country as a whole.

“Pent-up demand, easing credit conditions and strong trade-in values are fueling new-car and truck sales” said Peter Welch, CNCDA president. “New-car dealers have plenty of inventory and auto manufacturers are starting to offer great year-end incentive programs. It’s a perfect time to buy a new car or truck.”
