Ohio Dealer Pays More Than $500K to Settle Suits

MIAMISBURG, Ohio — Jeff Schmitt Auto Group has been sued by at least 25 people and has paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars to settle civil lawsuits over complaints of extra fees and deceptive practices since December 2012, reports Wdtn.com.

Some complaints state that dealership employees used the “five finger close,” in which a sales representative would cover up not-agreed upon charges with his or her hand on documents. Although the dealership has a positive rating on the Better Business Bureau website, 71 complaints have been filed against it since 2005.
