For its new Total Ownership Experience Awards, J.D. Power looked at results from its five iconic automotive studies to determine which automakers do the best job overall of satisfying customers through the different stages of vehicle ownership.
J.D. Power’s annual dependability rankings include a strong showing from a number of mass-market manufacturers, including Toyota, General Motors and Hyundai.
Bluetooth connectivity and voice recognition issues are the most frequently reported problems after three years of ownership, according to J.D. Power's 2015 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study.
In the same month Consumer Reports advised consumers to skip vehicle service contracts, J.D. Power reported that vehicle dependability declined for the first time in 15 years.
The J.D. Power 2014 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study found a 6% increase in vehicle problems from last year. It was the first time since 1998 that the average number of problems has increased.
