Japanese auto brands are leading the pack, according to ISeeCars.com’s latest study of the longest-lasting car brands, which Toyota aces.

The car research company analyzed over 395 million vehicles to find that Toyota models have right at a 20% chance - 19.7% - of reaching 250,000 miles, or almost four times the overall average of 5%.

“Consumers base their car-buying decisions on a range of vehicle attributes,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “For buyers seeking the longest lasting vehicles, it’s clear which brands they should focus on for their next new or used car purchase.”

Lexus, Honda and Acura follow closely behind Toyota, in that order, all with more than two times the average chance of reaching the quarter-million-mile mark. GMC is ranked fifth in the lineup as the first non-Japanese brand on the list.

When considering nonluxury brands alone, Toyota, Honda and GMC are the top three brands. Among luxury brands, Lexus, Acura and Lincoln are tops.
