HERNDON, Va. — Volkswagen has launched a "TDI Goodwill Program" to offer compensation to owners of its diesel-powered vehicles.
Volkswagen of America has set up a website for owners of TDIs with the 2.0L engine, who can apply for a $500 universal gift card and $500 Volkswagen card. Eligible owners must have purchased their affected vehicle no later than Nov. 8, and must apply for the goodwill package by April 30.
Commercial fleets aren't eligible for the package. Other groups that aren't eligible include auto dealers who maintain the vehicle in their inventory or retail buyers who sold the affected vehicle prior to Nov. 9. Other ineligible vehicles include those owned by Volkswagen Group of America, VW Credit Inc., or those part of an employee or retiree lease program.
