Carmel, Ind. — ADESA Inc. recently filled several key corporate positions, naming a director of dealer sales, a new vice president of marketing and an Internet communications specialist, in addition to making a few changes at an auction, reported AutoRemarketing.
The company announced that Joe Mappes will serve in the newly created position of director of dealer sales, while Carol Sewell has been named vice president of marketing and Chris Pohl will take the role of Internet communications specialist.
The director of dealer sales is a new position responsible for managing relationships with dealer groups, said Brent Huisman, ADESA's vice president of dealer relations.
In 2002, Mappes formed Pronto Dent Removal, which provided paint-free dent removal service and training to Ford Motor Co., financial institutions and franchised dealers. He sold his business in late 2004 and joined ADESA Cincinnati/Dayton as a dealer consignment representative. He most recently served as the auction's fleet/lease manager.
Prior to joining ADESA, Sewell, the new vice president of marketing, served as vice president of brand development for Conseco, a Fortune 500 financial services company. Her work involved corporate positioning, advertising, investor relations, sports marketing, sales promotion and product branding, and she has won numerous awards, according to ADESA.
As for the new Internet communications specialist, before joining ADESA, Pohl was public relations director/project manager for Digonex Technologies, an Indianapolis-based software developer. From 1993 to 2005, he was a project manager for the Indiana Film Commission, working to promote the state's film and television industry.
Also, at its most-recent acquisition in Sarasota, Fla., ADESA promoted Bill Cieslak from assistant general manager to auction manager and Luke Dietrick from sales manager to assistant general manager.
Cieslak and Dietrick have been important in the ownership transition at ADESA Sarasota, said Tom Caruso, regional vice president of ADESA's east region.
