AIADA Chairman Steps Down, Leaves AutoNation

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Jim Evans Jr. will step down as chairman of the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) effective Aug. 15.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Jim Evans Jr. will step down as chairman of the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) effective Aug. 15. Evans’ resignation comes in concert with a decision to leave AutoNation in order to pursue more "entrepreneurial opportunities."

Per association governance bylaws, AIADA Chairman-Elect Don Hicks will assume the chairmanship upon Evans’ departure; Vice Chairman Don Beyer will move to chairman-elect; and Buzz Rodland will remain immediate past chairman. In the coming weeks, AIADA’s board will hold elections to fill the vacant vice chairman post.

In a letter to AIADA board members, Evans notified his fellow-dealers of his decision and thanked them for their backing during his tenure as chairman:

"The next few months will be a period of transition for me as I plan to exit AutoNation by mid-August to pursue more entrepreneurial opportunities ... I want to assure all of you, that as I enter this next chapter, it is my hope that future projects will allow me to re-open my membership with AIADA and become re-engaged with our organization."
