FORT WORTH, Texas -- AmeriCredit expects to resume loan originations in Canada in 2006 and has hired Howard Cobham as senior vice president of dealer services to lead the initiative.
"Earlier this year, AmeriCredit announced its intent to resume originations in Canada," said Preston Miller, chief operating officer. "We’re proud to take the first step in that process by welcoming Howard to our team. He has tremendous leadership qualities and extensive knowledge of the Canadian auto finance market."
In the next few months, Cobham will establish an office in Mississauga, Ontario, and build a team to implement the program. Renewing loan originations in Canada is part of AmeriCredit’s strategy to grow new loans by an average of 10-15 percent annually.
