AutoTrader.com, an Internet automotive classifieds destination, and eBay, the online marketplace, on June 5 announced a new online feature they say will allow automotive dealers to seamlessly move vehicles in their online inventory between eBay Motors and AutoTrader.com.

The software tool, hosted by AutoTrader.com and

available to dealers at dealers.autotrader.com, leverages the massive AutoTrader.com vehicle database that nearly 40,000 dealers already use to advertise inventory online, and allows them to sell vehicles in eBay's national marketplace of more than 29 million users.

Dealers can now efficiently and conveniently create eBay Motors listings based on their online classified listings already registered in AutoTrader.com, according to officials of the two companies. The tool is designed to enable dealers to list their vehicles in the eBay marketplace in less than 10 minutes per car, a significant improvement over the prior software.

The ongoing management is simple to organize, easy to manage and more profitable for dealers, according to Chip Perry, president and CEO of AutoTrader.com. The manual part of the process has been streamlined so dealers only need to enter vehicle descriptions and pricing information, and upload photos. The cost of selling a car remains the same -- $25 to list and $25 when the car sells.

"Dealers already accustomed to using the AutoTrader.com listings format and software will now be able to post their AutoTrader.com inventory to eBay Motors in one easy step," Perry said. "By offering exclusive services such as free photo hosting, toll-free customer support and paper (rather than credit card) billing, we're able to streamline the listings process and more importantly, increase dealers' productivity and sales."

"Dealers have been extremely successful selling on eBay Motors and we are pleased that AutoTrader.com's new listing tool will build on that momentum by making the process even more convenient," said Simon Rothman, vice president and general manager, eBay Motors. "Now dealers can instantly reach a national audience of motivated consumers who are willing to make an online commitment to buy a used car."

"I am now able to seamlessly move my entire inventory between the eBay Motors and AutoTrader.com sites and manipulate it in real-time because of this new technology," said Luigi Nascairelli, president, Majestic Cars in

Cohasset, Mass. "The ability to easily add and remove vehicles between each site and then let consumers take full control of the bidding process creates a winning opportunity on both sides -- we move more inventory and consumers get what they want at the price they want."
