SCHERTZ, Texas — Cal-Tex Protective Coatings Inc. has added Tim Akard to its team. The former Ford dealer and past member of the Ford National Dealer Council was named senior director of market development.

Prior to joining Cal-Tex, Akard served as a licensed insurance agent who specialized in developing and administering self-insured programs for dealerships. Since 2008, he has managed Texas Auto Dealers Association’s Self Insurance Group, a self-funded worker’s compensation group owned by Texas dealers.

Cal-Tex’s new hire also has experience in reinsurance and F&I training.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to join a company with a well-defined culture,” Akard said. “I’m looking forward to making a contribution to the future strategic goals of Cal-Tex.”
