CAR 2001 Panel to Eye Impact of Used-Vehicle Sales Through Alternative Resale Channels
A management workshop panel will examine the extent of used-vehicle sales directly to wholesale channel buyers by the manufacturers, banks, and third party sales agents on the opening day of the sixth annual Conference of Automotive Remarketing 2001 in Las Vegas on March 19.
A panel composed of Marv Ingram of Lexus; Charlie Vogelheim, Kelley Blue Book; Denny Hecker, Hecker Automotive; and Howard Segal, Bank of America will be co-moderated by Pierre Pons and Richard Curtis of TPC Management.
The focus of the management workshop panel will be to seek to describe the process, current volume, and possible impact of direct wholesale vehicle sales transactions made through channels other than traditional auction or wholesaler sales transactions, according to Chuck Parker of Automotive Digest. An effort will be made determine how and if such sales are reported and input into the used vehicle guide books.
Further discussion will revolve around the implication that these sales have or do not have any impact on the actual resale values published by the guide book companies.
