FAIRFAX, Va.--Carfax promises to buy back any vehicle with a serious problem reported by the Department of Motor Vehicles that the Carfax vehicle history report failed to include. This Buyback Guarantee is for dealers and consumers, and comes with every Carfax report that shows no DMV-reported problems, the company announced.
"Carfax promises to cover severe problems reported by DMVs in our vehicle history reports," said Scott Fredericks, vice president of Carfax. "These are the problems that could potentially jeopardize the safety and reliability of vehicles, and put consumers and their families at risk ... if we miss a DMV-reported problem, we will purchase that car back for what the buyer paid."
DMVs typically record severe problems such as "lemon" history, major wrecks and major odometer problems on vehicle titles. Carfax reports include DMV reports from the 50 U.S. states and Canada.
"Because Carfax is so confident in its coverage, it is willing to assume the risk of buying a used car," said the company.
