DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler has extended October incentives to November, adding a $1,000 rebate on heavy-duty Ram pickups and dropping five-year, interest-free loans on minivans as the automaker tries to keep pace with rivals, according to Bloomberg News.

The offers include 2.9 percent loans for most models, five-year, no-interest loans on two models and cash rebates of as much as $2,500, said Dave Elshoff, a spokesman for the third-largest U.S. automaker. The heavy-duty Ram pickups, which went on sale in September, didn't have incentives last month, Elshoff said.

Chrysler wants to keep its incentives several hundred dollars less than General Motors Corp.'s and offer a better warranty than rivals' as it tries to return to profitability after a 2001 loss of $1.9 billion, according to Bloomberg News.
